Info for NC State Students
Our organization and conference is led entirely by NC State students!
There are four ways to get involved:
Try again later.
1) Become a Small Group Leader. Small Group Leaders are critical to the success of TYLC: Small Group Leaders work in pairs and facilitate the learning and networking of 8-12 high school students throughout the conference. Responsibilities of the Small Group Leader role include guiding assigned participants through the conference schedule, encouraging bonding within the group, and facilitating the development of their group's Service Project Prototype and presentation.
Reflections from two of our TYLC11 Small Group Leaders:
"The best part of the experience was watching my small group evolve as a unit, and observing how self-motivated they were to complete the project!"
"The structure and flow of the conference was both fun and educational for the group members and leaders."
2) Lead a conference workshop with your student organization. Each conference features 4-5 interactive workshops led by NCSU offices and student clubs: our workshop partners work with the Executive Board to develop a meaningful, hands-on workshop for our participants. Do you think your club or organization could lead a group TYLC workshop? Let us know you're interested - we'd love to get to know you!
Reflections from one of our TYLC11 Workshop Partners:
"The best part was the students' engagement. They were active, talkative, personable, and made the entire experience very fun! I also liked the hands-off approach; we had a lot of autonomy and flexibility which was appreciated!"
3) Help promote NCSU to our participants! Each conference features a campus tour, info session, and Q&A Panel of current students. If you are involved with the University Ambassadors or another recruitment-focused student organization, you may be asked to help us promote the Pack!
4) Join our Executive Board. Our small, dedicated Executive Board works behind the scenes to make TYLC happen every year: from high school outreach to application management to conference schedule design to Small Group Leader training to overnight logistics and everything in-between, our Executive Board attends to every details of TYLC. If you're a deeply motivated NCSU students with skills in written communication and an interest in youth leadership development, we'd love to chat with you about opportunities on the Executive Board. Email us if you think you're a good fit!
